I don’t think this solution from this audio company for helping 2010 FIFA World Cup broadcasters out is meant to be funny, but that is precisely what makes it a bit humorous to me:

Waves Promo

Nonetheless, a great company. I find myself using their modeling software more and more.

Now that I consider it, seems that all the cool tech/gear trade shows I enjoy attending carry some cool kind of acronym moniker. I’ve been going to AES shows ever since I got into audio. Have enjoyed many NAB shows in Las Vegas. More recently, GDC, GANG, AIAS, and HMMA have been relevant to my work with SCEA…

But the one show of all shows that I’ve never attended has been NAMM. Finally, I’m off to NAMM tomorrow in LA to check out the wonders there. Everyone touts it as a great show. I’m very much looking forward.

Will report back here on any great findings.

It felt like Christmas all over again today in Foster City. Three new Pro Tools HD3 systems and a big box of Accel cards to beef up existing rigs.

For my more normal, non-geek-talk friends, that means more audio processing power.

I love the fact that we need to up the processing power again. It means that we’re working with more high resolution sound and more suround sound now. Great!

Can’t wait work in all the 3D picture stuff that Sony just announced at CES last week too..!

Upon seeing the mail delivery today, I spotted a small padded envelope. CD size for sure, but what CD could it be? I tore it open with enthusiasm to see the title “Exodus” staring me in the face!

It felt funny seeing the name again on a CD, but this Exodus is not the ’80′s thrash metal band that I had produced and engineered many albums for. This Exodus, is the student band from Archbishop Mitty High School in San jose, California. Super talented high school musicians and vocalists who put together a fantastic collection of popular music.

The band puts out an album annually and I’ve helped out with mixing for several years now. This year we shared the mixing task between BZ Lewis, Johnny Lima, Steve Savage and myself.

I’m not sure what it is with me and bands called Exodus but no matter what, always the promise of great music no matter what the genre!

I just finished up mixing the last of 14 tracks for Lisa Kindred’s new album. It’s been overĀ  a year in production and I’m very excited for Lisa. Great players – great performances – fantastic release forthcoming. Still some refinement and then mastering. Can’t wait to let you know when it’s available. Here comes a great 2010!
